Sadly, since I created my community, only 2 people have bothered to join it. One of these was my sympathetic wife. I think this may be largely due to the fact that I have no clue about computers and dont understand how to make my community appear on search pages when people type in a relevant interest. Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. I've created this community to allow users to share their views and opinions on dog behaviour. Having searched LJ extensively I cant seem to find anything similar and think there is a need for this type of community.

dog_behaviouris a community for anybody that has any interest in dogs whatsoever. Whether you have a problem with your dog, have had a similar problem to someone else
and have had success in overcoming it in a certain way, do you want a dog and want to ask a specific question to someone with the experience, whatever your reasons for being
interested in dogs, come and join this community.

Here's my lot enjoying the sun in the garden...they are Kiska (red and white malamute), Kayo (sable and white malamute), Koda (white akita-malamute cross) and finally Buddie,
the border collie...

Oh, if I wasnt allowed to post this in this community, please accept my apologies and duly remove...

12:20 am - Help!

My in-laws are visiting this weekend and my mother-in-law insists on bringing her yorkie everywhere with her (in a stroller no less).  We have spent the last four visits hanging out around Marietta square and its getting old, does anyone know of any dog-friendly activities we can do in the metro area? Your help is greatly appreciated.

5:59 am - Norcross Area

Adorable puppies need a good home. There are 6 total. I've been trying to rescue these pups for a few weeks now so I am elated that we finally got them.

They are as sweet as can be. About 7-8 weeks old. 3 males, 3 female. Started out with 9 but 2 disappeared and one was killed by one of the kids who lived at the apartment complex so I really felt an urgent need to get them to a safe place.

This is one of the males. He is the only one with this look. The rest look just like the mom with perhaps a touch of sharpei. Total sweethearts.

While we were catching the pups a few guys came over and asked us to find a home for their dog as well. He's a 4 month old pit bull mix. Gets along wonderfully with kids, friendly and super sweet. He kept hugging everyone.

There is also a community for keeshonden on lj. It is called keeshond_fur. This is for anyone else in this city who have any of the furr babies in their household.

11:34 am - Whew!

Finally I found I community for dogs in Atlanta!
Well, onto the intro post:
First off, I have three lovable furballs (aka Keeshonden) named Storm, Idgett (there's actually a story behind her name) and Nakita. Two girls and a boy. Storm and Idgett are both 11 years old and are littermates/sisters. Nakita was a rescue whom we guessed to be about 5 years at the time. He is now 15.
I will have to post pictures at a later date, since I don't have any with me to post at this very moment.
Storm actually isn't in the best picture-taking mood right now, as she has surgery a week and a half ago and the spot on her throat is still kinda low on th furrage (the shaved spot is rather large). She just finished blowing coat and is about to grow her winter coat, so it will take a little longer than normal.
Well, that is all for now. Laters everyone.

10:03 am

I am posting solely to praise the Ansley Animal Clinic on Dutch Valley Road.

I've been taking my dog there for three years (after a harrowing experience with a "puppy package" at another local vet), and the doctors have always been incredibly cool, answering all my questions and making both me and Dixie comfortable.

This morning, I dropped her off to have her teeth cleaned, and I guess the counter clerk noticed how nervous I was that Dixie was going to be anesthetized, because she just had the vet call me and let me know how the procedure was going, wth the promise of another call when it was all done to let me know everything turned out alright.

I'm moving in a couple of weeks and it is going to be very hard to find another clinic like this one!

12:21 pm - Healthy, energetic pups seek happy homes! Cross posted

A litter of 9 pups was abandoned at three weeks of age. They are now about 7 weeks old and will be ready for their new homes within the next 2 weeks or so. Four of the pups were fostered elsewhere. I have five, three of whom are unspoken for as of yet. Please feel free to email me at lupaloo AT gmail.com or comment here if interested in learning more about adopting one of these babies.

10:34 am - Dog In Need Of Adoption:

(this is not an actual photo of Lady, but another dog of her breed, Lady has slightly less orange coloring on her face)

Lady is an approximately two year old brittany spaniel or brittany spaniel mix who was found in the woods by some hunters in January. She had on a collar but no tags. The man who found her apparently decided that he couldn't handle a second dog and took her to the Cobb County pound.

Lady has not been spayed, but qualifies for reduced spaying fees since she is a shelter dog. Cobb County gives a coupon accepted by most vets for this procedure after the adoption fee of $40 is paid.

Lady is an exceptionally sweet and intelligent dog, but does need a lot of exercise. She needs someone who has past experience training dogs to teach her how to control her exuberance. She knows how to sit and walk on a leash, though she prefers to run. She is an escape artisit when she doesn't get enough exercise, and deserves to be an indoor dog.

Lady has been at the Cobb shelter for three weeks now, and though they don't have a set schedule for euthanizing, she will be one of the first to go when they get crowded because she was turned in by an owner.

I am willing to pay for Lady's adoption fees and spaying but cannot take her into my house at this time, if nayone is interested or knows someone who might be able to give Lady a loving home, please contact mariclair at livejournal dot com.

Thank you!
